{"id":4598,"date":"2026-10-27T15:58:07","date_gmt":"2026-10-27T14:58:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ausolan.com\/gustos-reune-a-proyectos-europeos-para-compartir-soluciones-destinadas-a-prevenir-el-desperdicio-de-alimentos-en-los-comedores-escolares\/"},"modified":"2026-10-27T16:15:07","modified_gmt":"2026-10-27T15:15:07","slug":"gustos-reune-a-proyectos-europeos-para-compartir-soluciones-destinadas-a-prevenir-el-desperdicio-de-alimentos-en-los-comedores-escolares","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ausolan.com\/en\/actualidad\/gustos-reune-a-proyectos-europeos-para-compartir-soluciones-destinadas-a-prevenir-el-desperdicio-de-alimentos-en-los-comedores-escolares\/","title":{"rendered":"GUSTOS brings European projects together to share solutions for preventing food waste in school canteens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The European webinar brought together 11 projects and organisations working on measurement, educational and gastronomic interventions and behavioural change to reduce food waste in school canteens.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The European project <strong>GUSTOS \u2013 Gastronomic and Educational Strategies to Optimize Food Waste Prevention in School Canteens<\/strong> held its first European webinar on <strong>15 October 2026<\/strong> <strong>\u201c<em>Preventing Food Waste in School Canteens: European Projects in Motion<\/em>\u201d<\/strong> focused on exchanging solutions to prevent and reduce food waste in school canteens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event brought together <strong>84 participants from several European countries<\/strong>, representing projects and organisations working on food waste prevention from school canteens, catering companies, educational and research communities, food professionals and public authorities, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A total of <strong>12 speakers from European projects and organisations<\/strong> presented methodologies, interventions and practical experiences in four areas directly related to food waste prevention in school canteens (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.elika.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/GUSTOS_Webinar_Agenda.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Programme<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong>::<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Food waste measurement<\/strong>, addressing methodologies and tools to understand how much food waste is generated and better identify its causes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Educational interventions<\/strong>, focused on awareness raising, learning and the involvement of pupils and the wider school community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gastronomic interventions<\/strong>, including examples related to recipe redesign, menu acceptance and portion adjustment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Knowledge transfer and behavioural change<\/strong>, analysing how project results can be transferred to other contexts and how changes in consumer behaviour can be encouraged.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The different presentations provided an opportunity to learn about <strong>tools and solutions<\/strong> implemented in different European contexts, as well as <strong>good practices, challenges and lessons to be learned<\/strong> that may support the implementation of new actions in other school canteens.
